Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the ColdCart mobile application and the coldcart.app website (together, the "Service"). By downloading or using ColdCart, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. What ColdCart is (and isn't)

ColdCart is a self-control tool that helps you delay impulse purchases by placing them in a cooldown period, optionally shielding shopping apps (iOS), and tracking money you chose not to spend. ColdCart is not financial, legal, or medical advice, and it does not connect to your bank, cards, or retailer accounts. Savings totals shown in the app are estimates based on the prices you enter. You remain solely responsible for your purchasing and financial decisions.

2. Eligibility and acceptable use

  • You must be at least 13 years old to use ColdCart.
  • You may use the Service only for personal, non-commercial purposes and in compliance with applicable laws.
  • You may not reverse-engineer, copy, resell, or interfere with the Service, or misuse the iOS Screen Time integration to restrict devices you are not authorized to manage.

3. Subscriptions, trials, and billing

  • Free tier: ColdCart is free to use with one active freeze at a time and core features.
  • ColdCart Pro: an optional auto-renewing subscription priced at $3.99 per month or $29.99 per year (prices may vary by region and are shown in your store before purchase). Pro unlocks unlimited freezes, app shielding and block lists (iOS), and full insights.
  • Free trial: new subscribers get a 7-day free trial. If you do not cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, the subscription starts and your store account is charged.
  • Auto-renewal: subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period.
  • Cancelling: manage or cancel anytime in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings — deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. After cancelling, you keep Pro until the end of the period you paid for.
  • Refunds: billing is handled by Apple and Google; refund requests are made through them under their policies.

4. Your content and data

Freezes, journal entries, goals, and preferences you create are stored on your device and remain yours. Because ColdCart has no accounts and no cloud sync, we cannot recover data you delete or lose with a device — please rely on your device's standard backups. See our Privacy Policy for details.

5. Intellectual property

The Service — including the ColdCart name, the Pip character, artwork, and software — is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual-property laws. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the app on devices you own or control, as permitted by the App Store or Google Play terms.

6. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free, that app shielding will block every purchase path, or that using ColdCart will result in any particular amount of savings.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or US$50. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

8. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time by deleting the app (remember to cancel any active subscription in your store settings). We may suspend or terminate the Service, or your access to it, if you breach these Terms or if we discontinue the product; where required, we will provide reasonable notice.

9. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes take effect when posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date; material changes will be flagged in the app or on this site. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

10. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the ColdCart operating entity is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Nothing in these Terms limits any non-waivable consumer rights you have under the laws of your country of residence.
